Why should you participate?

Perhaps you are a start-up with exciting technology that is still looking for the right use-case. Perhaps you are researching innovative solutions for the electromagnetic spectrum at a university or perhaps you are an interdisciplinary team or company that has developed an idea but has not yet found the right application for it. This challenge gives you the opportunity to take your solutions to the next level and showcase them!

What you can expect from us:

  • Direct user feedback from military end users and technical experts
  • Visibility in the defence innovation sphere
  • The chance of follow-up projects, further cooperation or long-term partnerships
  • In the practical track we can support the development process with up to 50.000 € to cover material and development costs

In order to reward particularly impressive performances, staggered development fees, which will be discussed in advance, can be awarded in both tracks for up to three participants:

Practical track

  • 1. Highest rating: EUR 100,000
  • 2. High rating: EUR 50,000
  • 3. Above-average rating: EUR 20,000

Moonshot Track

  • 1. Highest potential: EUR 30,000
  • 2. High potential: EUR 20,000
  • 3. Above-average potential: EUR 10,000

Whether you are a small start-up, an established SME, a research-intensive institute or a courageous individual team: if you have a strong idea, we will give you the stage to showcase it.

Large and small industrial companies, start-ups, university and non-university research institutions and even individuals with the relevant technical expertise are eligible to participate. Interdisciplinary teams from different institutions are also welcome to participate.

There is no prescribed legal form for teams. All participants must meet the following requirements:

  • The place of residence or registered office of participants/companies or institutions must be in an EU or NATO member state.
  • All participants must be of legal age.

  • Willingness to actively participate in all phases of the challenge
  • Willingness to further develop your own approach during the challenge period
  • Availability for pitch, partnering and test formats on site
